One of the most popular touristic destinations in Brazil, Foz do Iguaçu is located on the Brazilian side of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Iguaçu Falls. Lying on the triple frontier between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, it also offers the Parque das Aves (Birds Park), the Itaipú Dam, and access to cheap shopping in the Paraguayan tax-free city of Ciudad del Este.
The word Iguaçu derives from the native Guaraní language, meaning “big water”. The spectacular falls are part of the natural frontier between Argentina and Brazil, and comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km in both countries, with a maximum height of 80 metres. Its water flow can be three times that of the Niagara.
Starting as a small village, Foz grew thanks to the flow of tourists, the construction of the bridges linking to Paraguay and Argentina, and the works on the Itaipú Dam and Hydroelectric Plant. Some of the best hotels in Foz do Iguaçu are located along the road linking to the national park. Nonetheless, most Foz do Iguaçu hotels are located in and around the central area.

we liked the falls much more from the Argentina side, because you can reach them much closer. Less than half a day is enough to spend there. We did the Catamarran tour and the food was really really good. Just go with Uber and buy your own ticket at the entry for the falls (both sides). A guide was offered for U$ 50,- at the gate informing us we could get lost (Argentina side). No way we could get lost with all the signs over there. La Boca de Diablo was closed since the bridge was flooded last year October, but should re-open soon. Uber is a great and cheap way to get around and we used a taxi to cross the border and they help with immigration papers. Also visited Paraguay with the bus for only U$ 3,- per person and came back with a collectivo for U$ 6,- who dropped us off right at our Hotel ( hassle-free). We never use the bus or public transport but it was an experience to us and Paraguay, while very busy, was worth a visit due to the many many shops and some expensive malls selling all wellknown brands

The Iguaçu Falls are phenomenal, needing two days, the first for the panoramic view on the Brazilian side, the second for a close-up experience on the Argentinian side. The city felt safe, and we walked some 6 or 7 blocks to eat at a good Italian restaurant.

We underestimated the time needed in Foz do Iguaçu.
We underestimated the time needed in Foz do Iguaçu. We extended our stay by 1 night from 2 nights to 3 (moving to wonderful Hotel Sanma because With Foz do Iguaçu had no room available), but should probably have added 2 nights instead of only 1.
Count 0.5 days for Itaipu, 1 day for Iguaçu-falls Brazilian side, 1 day for Iguazu falls Argentinian side, 0.5 days for the wonderful, very instructive Parque das Aves, and 0.5 days for a quick hike through the 3 towns Foz (Bra) Ciudad del Este (Par) and Puerto Iguazu (Arg).
Make sure you travel with autorized means of transportation from one country to the other.

Forget Victoria and Niagara, this is the only one you need to see! But make sure you see both sides as they are different. The Brazilian side is beautiful, the Argentinian side is awesomely dramatic. One day is sufficient if you start at opening time then transfer by taxi to Argentina and stay in a hotel there at the end.

Iguazu Falls - definitely worth visiting, but check tickets before you go as you might end up in a very long queue. Hotels offer to buy (not too big $$ difference). Birds park worth visiting as well as popping in to Argentina.
I liked the fact that they have a lot at the hotel. Pools restaurant and etc.
I really wanted the kid pool to be warmer but it’s not warmed up. The indoor pool also was a little too cold for comfort since Im travelling with a 2 year old.
The location is decent. Just far from everything if you dont have a car. There are bus stops in front of the hotel but they take a long time to come around so we ended up wasting a lot of time waiting for busses to the tourist areas
- The crew from the reception to all cleaners are wonderful.
- The breakfast is good overall and I really liked the fresh juices.
- The swimming pool is amazing and has a very clean water with a good water temperature.
- The location is little far from city center if you want to walk there, but has good distance to waterfalls, natural park and airport of Foz Do Iguacu and also there is shopping mall nearby the hotel.
- The room AC was very good.
Very secure, nice peaceful street, 24hr reception. Tour agency in the hotel, which I didn't use but were very helpful via WhatsApp for enquiries.
Staff were wonderful! The communal kitchen is huge, nice to eat dinner in the open air. Breakfast had so many options. The fridge in my room was particularly handy. AC worked very well. Short walking distance of the urban bus terminal and a huge supermarket with ATM.
Traveling alone I booked a room at Hotel Colonial Iguaçu for 2 nights.
Great place! The best things are:
1. Walking distance from the Visitor Center Station of the Cataratas do Iguaçu park and the Parque das Aves
2. A desk that provide turistic information. I plan with the a trip to the Argentinian side of the Cataratas del Iguazú
3. Quite Nice restaurant
The hotel facilities were very nice, the pools were very fun for my daughter. Visually the hotel is also gorgeous. The staff were incredibly friendly and gave a wonderful service.
The location of the hotel was perfect, very close to the airport and the big local attractions.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Foz do Iguaçu.
Love the hotel, confortable beds, staff was super nice, excellent bar, great mojitos!!! Rooms were clean, the breakfast was fabulous!!! Unfortunately we stay during winter so we couldn’t enjoy the outdoor facilities due to the rain, but they look fabulous! Iguazú waterfalls 5 minutes walking .. gray location … perfect, bravo!!!!!
The staff was exceptionally friendly, the location just great with a good assortment of pubs and restaurants just around the corner and a great coffee shop just one block down (Mana and Marnie?). Best was the value! It was half the price of comparable hotels in the area - for a budget solo traveller it was ideal.
Highly recommend if you're visiting Foz do Iguacu. The staff truly goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. They have a multilingual staff (English, Spanish, Portuguese) Located in a safe, quiet neighborhood. Breakfast was also delicious. It felt like a home away from home.
Location is out of this world, you have the entire Iguazu Falls at your doorstep. Hotel staff are fantastic and really make you feel welcomed and special. Breakfast is extraordinary, all included with Champagne on tap and anything you wish for is catered and executed with a smile.
Great location with a yummy restaurante right next door and attentive and helpful staff. Really great breakfast. Walking distance from the maim shopping street. We had to check out hours before our bus left and the hotel let us leave our luggage in a safe place at the hotel.
Absolutely lovely Airbnb-style stay! Gloria was very kind and the beds were comfortable, we had warm showers, and great breakfast. Good wifi connection, near to the main bus terminal in Foz do Iguaçu and easy enough to get to central locations within the town :)
Location are near to the Falls and to the city center.
There is a tourist office in the hotel that you can book many things and get advice for what can you do in Iguazu area. They can also offer taxi for you.
The staff were kind and helpful.
Comfortable hotel with excellent price / quality ratio.
Staff did everything to help make our stay memorable (arranging taxi's / late check out etc).
The restaurant is not very cosy, but provides reasonable good food.
The location of the hotel is perfect, near you have many bars and restaurants, bus terminal station is only in 5 minutes walking distance.
The room was confortable and clean.
Breakfast is nice and very tasty.
Very beautiful hotel in the center of Foz do Iguacu, rooms are large and confortable, the breakfast buffet is very rich with lots of choices, beautiful lobby and very nice staff
The hotel is excellent, in many aspects: breakfast, pool, trail! The staff is super kind! The hotel is gorgeous! I recommend it and I will certainly stay there again!
Location was great, right across the bus stop going to the waterfalls! The hotel has a nice space, nice decor and a lot of potential if good care is taken. G
Gym was great. Good location. Very spacious rooms and the breakfast was really good. Helpful staff. Really nice coffee shop attached to the hotel as well.
